End Greyhound Racing at Wentworth Park

Add your voice to help end cruel greyhound racing at Wentworth Park, and secure the return of this parkland to our community.

In 2024 alone, more than 390 greyhounds were injured and five tragically lost their lives in races held at Wentworth Park. It's a cruel industry that is beyond redemption.

Our community has long advocated for the closure of this notorious track, and for the parkland to be returned to our community for public use.

Disappointingly, the NSW Labor Government is considering extending the greyhound racing lease at Wentworth Park beyond 2027. We cannot allow this to happen.

Pyrmont and Ultimo are two of the most densely populated suburbs in Australia, with over 14,000 people per square kilometre. Open and accessible green space is incredibly hard to come by, and with more high-density apartments planned for our community, the shortage of green space will only worsen.

We cannot allow the government to prioritise the needs of the racing and gambling industry over and above the needs of our local community.

We are calling on the Minister for Lands and Property and the Minister for Gaming and Racing to:

  • Commit to ending greyhound racing at Wentworth Park when the lease expires in 2027
  • Work with the local community and the City of Sydney to revitalise this parkland and return it to the community for public use, in line with plans included in the Pyrmont Peninsula Place Strategy
