Stop Cruise Ship Pollution

Our community deserves clean air to breathe.

But for 10 years since White Bay Cruise Terminal opened, we have been a dumping ground for the cruising industry's oldest and dirtiest ships. Without shore power, these huge ships are left to run their diesel engines around the clock while they're in port. It's the equivalent of having an additional 4000 cars on our roads each year, pumping out toxic fumes right into the homes of Balmain residents.

After advocating for over a decade, the local community, with the support of the former Member for Balmain, Jamie Parker, won a commitment from the former government to install shore-to-ship power at White Bay Cruise Terminal by 2024.

At the 11th hour, community advocates and residents were blindsided by a confession from the NSW Premier, revealing significant delays to the roll-out of shore power. Not only have NSW Labor confirmed they will not meet the deadline, but they've indicated our community could be waiting till 2027 to see an end to cruise ship pollution.
