Political decisions should be made in the interests of communities, not for lobbyists working on behalf of vested interests like property developers and the gambling industry.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) recommended significant lobbying reforms in 2021 to help address corruption risks and limit the influence of corporate lobbyists on political decision-makers.

Despite having more than two years to enact changes, the NSW Labor Government has not introduced laws to curb the unreasonable influence of lobbying in NSW. We've seen the impacts of this failure, with community-led planning decisions undermined following corporate lobbying on behalf of private developers.

Influence like this undermines democratic processes and brings into question the integrity of our political system. We need to reform lobbying laws to protect our democracy.

That’s why I’ve introduced the Greens bill to restrict the power of lobbyists in NSW Parliament and to implement the long-overdue ICAC recommendations. You can help keep the pressure on the NSW Labor Government to act by adding your name to the petition below.

Australia’s native forests are among the most biodiverse and ecologically significant systems on earth. They provide critical habitat for wildlife, support clean air and water, and store enormous amounts of carbon.  

Thanks to pressure from The Greens, environmental advocates, and determined campaigners - we've pushed the NSW Labor Government to deliver the promised Great Koala National Park. While this is a fantastic start, we need to secure a permanent end to destructive native forest logging across NSW. 

Ongoing logging operations are releasing millions of tonnes of carbon and driving species to the brink of extinction. We know what needs to happen to protect our living planet now and for generations to come. The NSW Government must act now to end native forest logging.  

Sign our petition to support a vibrant, affordable, and sustainable Inner West.

Imagine an Inner West built for everyone. Where people can find an affordable place to call home, surrounded by world-class infrastructure and plenty of green space. Together, we can shape a future like this for all of us. 

The Inner West Council is in a unique position to help shape a more affordable, sustainable, thriving Inner West for all. Disappointingly, the plan currently being pushed by NSW Labor and the Inner West Labor Councillors will see more profits for big developers and won't fix the housing affordability crisis.  

As a community, we need to push for real solutions that put people and our environment at the heart of the Inner West.  

The Greens know that planning reforms and outsourcing to the private market won't solve the housing affordability crisis or deliver the world-class infrastructure that our community deserves. That's why we have a plan to:

• Control rents: We can cap rents in council-managed affordable and key worker housing at 30% of tenant income to keep essential workers - our teachers and nurses - in our neighbourhoods.
• Prioritise world-class infrastructure, quality services and green space: New housing must come with new infrastructure like green space, community and sports facilities, and safer walking and cycling paths. The inner West already has the least public open space per person in Sydney. With more development on the way, we need serious investment in public spaces and a clear timeline for delivery. 
• Ensure homes and communities are climate ready: The government's obsession with fossil fuels is making heating and cooling homes more costly than ever. We need a planning framework that protects urban tree canopy and ensures our community has access to solar, community batteries, and stronger minimum design standards to make it easier to keep our homes comfortable year-round, while lowering energy bills for everyone. 
• Make developers pay their fair share: Developers stand to make massive profits from new developments in the Inner West, yet the draft LEP only requires them to pay 2-5% towards affordable housing. Council must develop a scheme to capture developer contributions at a higher rate to fund affordable homes. 
• Protect artists, creatives, and local shops:  Innovative, socially-conscious, and community-connected small businesses, artists and creatives have shaped the vibrant, multucultural vibe we all love about the Inner West. The council needs to ensure they aren't priced out of the suburbs they helped to build by offering rent relief and other support if they experience a significant decline in turnover due to construction.

Sign our petition to oppose the multi-story car park for White Bay Cruise terminal. Help keep the Bays West Precinct a low-traffic area.  

Our community deserves liveable neighbourhoods, with safe streets that make it easy to walk, ride a bike, or use public transport.

Disappointingly, suburbs neighbouring the White Bay Cruise Terminal could soon face more traffic and congestion, with a 500-space multi-story car park proposal now on the table.

This proposed development undermines the broader plans for the Bays West Precinct, which has been identified as a low-traffic area. The NSW State Government has plans to reduce private car use across the precinct, aiming for a target of just 5% private vehicle trips.

Encouraging more visitors to drive to the Cruise Terminal undermines the low-traffic approach for the broader Bays West Precinct.

Sign our petition to stop the cuts to midwives at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Sydney. 

Inner West families deserve access to world-class maternity services, and our nurses and midwives deserve job security. 

Right now, 15-20 full-time midwifery positions are on the chopping block at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital here in Sydney. These senseless cuts could also see nine beds in the postnatal ward close as part of the sweeping changes outlined by the Sydney Local Health District. 

We know NSW nurses and midwives are chronically short-staffed and underfunded, with the lowest wages in the country. This move is the latest in a string of bad decisions that could deliver poorer health outcomes for parents and babies.

The NSW Labor Government cannot allow these cuts to proceed.

Imagine a city where streets are built as shared spaces for people, not just cars. Where kids can safely walk and ride to school, and where more people are comfortable hopping on their bikes to get to work, rather than sitting in endless traffic. This is what we should be aspiring to achieve, in a global city like Sydney. 

The expert evidence is clear that the best way to create safer and more liveable neighbourhoods is to introduce safer speeds of 30km/h on local streets. 

A person struck by a vehicle at 50km/h has only a 10% chance of survival. At 30km/h, the survival rate increases to 90%. Safer speeds on local streets keep everyone safe, regardless of whether they're walking, riding their bike, or driving their car.

Imagine hopping on the ferry in Annandale and heading straight across the harbour into the CBD. A ferry wharf in Annandale would increase the number of public transport options available for our community, lower daily travel costs, and help reduce congestion in our suburbs. 

The NSW Government has told our community they will deliver a ferry for Annandale, but we're now more than two years into the current government and the ferry is nowhere to be seen. With congestion in Annandale worse than ever after the opening of the Rozelle Interchange, the government needs to act quickly to reduce traffic.

Our foreshore must be accessible for pedestrians to enjoy, but for two years, the Balmain East Seawall has been out of action. 

I've raised this issue in Parliament and the Government has suggested it will take until at least the end of the year for the path to be re-opened for our community.

Our community deserves better. The Government needs to stop the delays and prioritise restoring this important path so everyone can enjoy the beauty of our harbour.

Our community deserves streets that are peaceful and safe to access. Unfortunately, residents of Waterview Street, Balmain have faced significant disruption, and ongoing safety concerns from large cranes repeatedly using this narrow street for access to the Balmain Shipyards.

Residents are given little to no warning before large cranes are sent down their narrow street. These cranes can restrict resident access to their homes, and they raise serious concerns for the safety of pedestrians, and the potential risk of damage to parked vehicles.

The NSW Government needs to invest in a permanent crane for Balmain Shipyards to avoid these ongoing safety and access concerns. Please sign our petition calling on the Minister to prioritise the installation of a permanent crane at Balmain Shipyards.

Imagine hopping on the ferry on a sunny day and bringing your dog with you. 

With so many people in our community owning dogs, it’s time for transport rules to catch up. We’re so fortunate here in Balmain to have great ferry services into the city, but unfortunately, the NSW State Government still won’t allow dogs on ferries unless they’re in a carrier. This restriction leaves many people with dogs reliant on cars to get around.

Traffic congestion is worse than ever since the Rozelle Interchange opened, and we need to do all we can to make it easier for people to use public transport and leave their cars at home. It can be done in a way that guarantees all ferry users are safe and comfortable – by having a separate area for pets.
