  • Filter the toxic Rozelle stacks

Everyone deserves clean and safe air to breathe.

But despite world's best practice and mounting scientific evidence that transport pollution is extremely harmful to our health, the NSW Labor Government is continuing to drag its heels - further delaying action to filter the toxic Rozelle stacks.

Last year I secured an independent review of the Chief Scientist and Engineer's findings on road tunnel air quality - an important first step towards getting the stacks filtered. But disappointingly, the NSW Labor government has now admitted to significant delays - pushing the release of the independent review back from March to September of this year. This delay is completely unacceptable.

The failure to deliver the review on time shows that the government is not treating this issue as a priority. We need to show them that we will not let them get away with ignoring our concerns.

Will you please join me in writing to the Minister for Roads, calling on them to urgently progress the review into road tunnel air pollution, and to filter the toxic Rozelle stacks.

We are calling on the Minister for Roads to:

    • Recognise the mounting scientific evidence that transport pollution is extremely harmful to our health
    • Acknowledge the valid concerns of residents about the potential health and environmental impacts from the unfiltered WestConnex stacks
    • Provide funding and resources to ensure the independent review can be completed as close to the initial deadline as possible
    • Allocate funds in the budget for the next financial year to begin work on installing filtration for the toxic Rozelle stacks

Use this template to send your email directly to the Minister for Roads. Feel free to customise the email to share your personal concerns.

Our community is rightly concerned about the health impacts of unfiltered, carcinogenic toxins being pumped out right next to our schools, parks, playgrounds, and our homes.

Together, we can keep the pressure on the Labor government to treat this issue as a priority and to deliver real action now, without further delay.

We have a uniquely creative community here in the Inner West. With such a creative and culturally diverse community, we must ensure local art and cultural groups get access to the revitalised cultural site set to open at White Bay Power Station.

This local heritage-listed site is scheduled to open in 2024, with one of the first events to be the 24th Biennale. While we look forward to large and exciting events like this, we must ensure that there is space for our local creative community to thrive

With community consultation beginning soon, we must make it clear to the government that our community wants access to White Bay, to foster the development of our local arts and culture scene. Will you please add your name to our petition to help ensure our local arts and culture scene is given this opportunity to thrive?

  • Help move NSW to net zero by 2035

Join our campaign calling on the NSW government to commit to reaching net zero by 2035.

Our community deserves a safe and liveable planet. We deserve a government willing to take ambitious action to urgently tackle the climate emergency.

Disappointingly, the Minns Labor Government passed weak laws that take us backward on climate. The government's net zero plan will prevent NSW reaching net zero emissions until 2050, which will lock in 2 degrees of global heating and cause more extreme weather events, dangerous sea level rise, extinctions and ecosystem collapse, food insecurity, and more.

These targets are even weaker than those set by the former Liberal National Government and will breach the Paris Agreement. It's not good enough.

We are in a climate emergency and we need a government willing to recognise the need for urgent and ambitious action. The Greens will use our numbers in Parliament to demand climate action based on science and on the survival of our living planet, and we need your help. We are calling for:

    • Net Zero emissions by 2035
    • The replacement of coal and gas with cheap, reliable, renewable energy by 2030
    • An immediate end to native forest logging

  • Fix Inner West Buses

Our community deserves world-class public transport. Run for the public, by the public, that gets you where you want to go, when you want to get there.

Disappointingly, the Inner West is facing a bus crisis due to the failed privatisation 'experiment' - and we've had enough. The privatisation of our bus network has resulted in more late and cancelled services than ever before.

The current private operator contracts are due to expire in 2026, but the NSW Labor Government is considering extending them until 2028. This is unacceptable. The government must commit to bringing Inner West buses back into public hands.

Sign our petition to the Minister for Transport below, calling on the government to fix our Inner West buses and bring these services back into public hands.

We call on the Minister to commit to reversing the privatisation of our Inner West bus network when the private operator contracts expire in 2026. We urge the NSW Labor Government not to extend the private contracts.

The Glebe Ferry provides our community with a beautiful daily commute between the CBD and Blackwattle Bay, and was won thanks to a huge community campaign over many years.

That is why it was so disappointing that the minister did not respond to our calls for a replacement ferry service whilst maintenance works were undertaken recently.

We are calling on the Minister for Transport to ensure replacement ferry services are provided in the event of cancellations.

Thank you to the many residents who contacted my office to raise this issue with me. I will keep pushing for world-class public transport in our community.
