A HEALTHY PLANET

Our community deserves a safe climate, thriving ecosystems and clean air and water for future generations. But after years of inaction, we’re seeing the real impacts of climate change and environmental destruction from increasingly extreme weather events to habitat loss and species extinction.

We need urgent, practical action to protect our living planet. The Greens have a plan to drive down emissions, protect nature and secure a liveable planet for future generations.

OUR PLAN FOR A HEALTHY PLANET

  • End native forest logging - Protect our precious native forests and wildlife by ending destructive native forest logging and transitioning to sustainable plantation timber.
  • Keep coal and gas in the ground – Put an end to new coal and gas projects and rapidly phase out fossil fuels to tackle the root cause of climate change.
  • Publicly owned renewable energy -
Transition to publicly owned renewable energy to deliver cheaper, cleaner power for households and reduce emissions.
  • Tackle plastic pollution - We will make plastic producers responsible for the full life cycle of their products to minimise plastic waste and phase out problematic single-use plastics
  • More street trees and urban greening - Expand tree canopy and green space to cool our suburbs, improve air quality and make our communities more liveable.
