Pay NSW Nurses and Midwives What They're Worth

Sign our petition. NSW Nurses and Midwives deserve fair pay and conditions

Our community deserves a health system where nurses and midwives are valued and provided with safe working conditions so they can provide the care we all rely on.

After years of campaigning, NSW nurses and midwives have secured a long-overdue pay rise of 16–28%.

But it doesn’t go far enough. Even after this increase, NSW nurses and midwives are still paid less than their colleagues in Victoria and Queensland.

With better pay and conditions on offer interstate, we are continuing to lose nurses and midwives to Victoria and Queensland. The result is chronic understaffing, growing workloads, and a health system under pressure. That affects all of us.

It is deeply disappointing that the NSW Government chose to spend years fighting nurses and midwives in the Industrial Relations Commission, rather than simply paying them what they’re worth.

The NSW Labor Government can fix this in the upcoming budget by delivering fair pay, safer staffing, and better conditions for our incredibly hardworking nurses and midwives.

To the NSW Premier, we call on you to:

1. Pay NSW Nurses and Midwives what they're worth by bringing their pay in line with other states, including Queensland and Victoria

2. Deliver safer ratios and better working conditions, including fair sick leave entitlements and flexible work options
