CLEANING UP NSW POLITICS

Our democracy should work for people, not powerful lobbyists or vested interests. But too often, decisions are influenced by those with the deepest pockets, while the interests of everyday people and local communities are undermined.

From planning decisions to gambling reform, we’ve seen what happens when powerful lobby groups are in control. I’m working to clean up NSW politics by restricting the power of corporate lobbyists.

OUR PLAN FOR A FAIRER NSW

  • Strengthen lobbying laws - Implement the ICAC recommendations to restrict the unreasonable influence of lobbyists in NSW.
  • Big money out of politics – Political parties shouldn’t accept donations from for-profit corporations and businesses.
  • Real-time transparency -
Mandate real-time disclosures of Ministerial meetings with vested interests, and timely disclosures of donations to increase trust and transparency.
  • Stop the revolving door - Ban former Ministers, ministerial staffers and party officials from becoming professional lobbyists or engaging in lobbying activities in areas covered by their former portfolio for a period of four years from leaving office.
  • Truth in political advertising - Legislate ‘Truth in Political Advertising’ laws and ensure they apply to all claims made by candidates and elected Members.

MY TRACK RECORD
