TRANSPORT

Our community deserves access to world-class public transport alongside well-designed walking and cycling connections. This will help lower transport costs and reduce congestion across the Inner West.

Previous governments have poured billions into private toll roads while failing to properly invest in public transport or walking and cycling. We have a plan to address this budget imbalance by prioritising affordable and sustainable transport options.

OUR PLAN FOR TRANSPORT

  • Fix Inner West Buses - Inner West buses were privatised under the former Liberal Government, and the NSW Labor government has since extended the contract for the private bus operators. This has left residents with late, cancelled, and unreliable bus services. We have a plan to bring our buses back into public hands to ensure we have frequent and reliable buses in the Inner West.
  • Ferry Service for Annandale – Deliver a ferry for Annandale to give residents a quicker, more affordable way to get into the city and avoid traffic gridlock.
  • Better Walking and Cycling Infrastructure -
Boost spending on walking and cycling infrastructure to deliver better active transport connections across the Inner West. We want to see NSW match the UN recommendation by dedicating 20% of the transport budget to improving walking and cycling infrastructure for our communities.
  • E-Bike Safety Reforms - E-bikes and shared bikes are an important part of a sustainable transport future, but we need to ensure they are properly regulated to keep people safe. We have a plan for reforms to ban illegal ebikes, improve the regulation of shared ebikes, and deliver more cycling infrastructure.
