Sign our petition. No new coal and gas mining in NSW
Our community deserves a safe climate and affordable, renewable energy.
Disappointingly, the NSW Labor Government has lifted the decade-long ban on gas exploration, opening new areas to drilling and slashing application fees for private mining companies from $50,000 to just $1,000.
This is deeply concerning, and will undermine the urgent action we need to tackle the climate crisis.
New coal and gas will not deliver cheaper energy any time soon. These projects take years to come online, lock in more pollution, and put our climate targets at risk. We also know public money should not be used to support private mining interests.
Instead, we should be investing in publicly owned renewable energy to bring down bills, strengthen energy security, and build a more sustainable future.
To the NSW Premier, we call on you to:
1. Commit to no new coal or gas projects in NSW
2. Reverse the decision to reopen gas exploration
3. Invest in publicly owned renewable energy to deliver affordable power
