EDUCATION
A strong public education system is the foundation of a fair society. Every child, no matter their background, deserves access to a high-quality public education. Disappointingly, we know public schools across NSW remain underfunded, with parents and teachers often left to fill the gaps. We have a plan to fully fund public schools and ensure better conditions for teachers and students.
OUR PLAN FOR EDUCATION
- Fully funded and free public schools - Public schools should be fully funded and free for students to attend. We will implement and maintain funding to at least 100% of the Schooling Resource Standard for all public schools and abolish fees, charges, and ‘voluntary contributions’ for families.
- Universal access to early childhood education – Access to high-quality early learning is essential to give kids the best possible start in life. We know this is also crucial in allowing parents to confidently return to the workforce when they’re ready.
- Free Uni and TAFE - University and TAFE should be free and accessible for all. Everyone benefits from an educated society and reinstating free Uni and TAFE will help lower education costs and boost wellbeing in our community.
- Better pay and conditions for teachers and early childhood educators - Teachers and early childhood educators deserve fair pay and safe working conditions. This includes more time to prepare lessons/review the curriculum, and smaller class sizes.
