Invest in Waterfront Drive Callan Park

Our community deserves access to well-maintained sporting fields and diverse outdoor recreation spaces.

We know there's a need to improve local sporting fields, including Waterfront Drive in Callan Park to help increase playable hours for local clubs. I'm a mum of three, and my kids play with BDFC and train twice a week at Waterfront Drive. We understand first-hand the need to invest in upgrades and proper maintenance of these fields.

Last month the Independent Inner West Local Planning Panel unanimously refused the application to install a synthetic surface at Waterfront Drive, citing concerns about pollutants making their way into Sydney Harbour.

It demonstrates that synthetic turf does come with environmental risks, and should not be relied on as a quick-fix to deal with growing demand for sporting fields.

We know that Waterfront Drive does need work done to improve the field, but we can protect our precious environment and also deliver world-class fields for our kids.

We need Inner West Council and the NSW Government to work together to fund drainage upgrades for Waterfront Drive, and to fund the installation of best-practice natural turf, with ample ongoing funding to ensure it's maintained to a high standard for our kids.

Please join us in calling on the Labor Government to work with Inner West Council to upgrade Waterfront Drive Field with drainage and best-practice natural turf. This will increase playable hours and help protect our living planet now and for generations to come.
