It's time to clean up NSW politics
Political decisions should be made in the interests of communities, not for lobbyists working on behalf of vested interests like property developers and the gambling industry.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) recommended significant lobbying reforms in 2021 to help address corruption risks and limit the influence of big corporate lobbyists. Despite having 3 years to enact changes, the NSW Labor Government has not implemented reforms and has done very little to curb the unreasonable influence of lobbyists in NSW.
We've seen the impacts of this failure, with urgent gambling reform delayed to protect a toxic industry, and community-led planning decisions undermined in favour of dodgy developers. That's why I've introduced the Greens bill to restrict the power of lobbyists in NSW Parliament, and to implement the long overdue ICAC recommendations.
